Ozone is utilized as an oxidizing agent and a germicide. When employed as a disinfectant in drinking water, ozone oxidizes organic matter and effectively reduces color and odor impurities. Ozone is being used more and more as an oxidizing agent because of its efficiency.

As a result of its oxidizing potential ozone has the advantage of reducing the time normally required for sterilization. Ozone is dangerous for human health (depending on ozone concentration and time of exposure), and those plants that use this sterilizing agent (swimming pools, bottled water and drinking water), normally have to apply a process of de-ozonization, at the end of the sterilization process. Ozone is also used in reverse-osmosis.

Hach currently offers two arsenic test kits. The two kits differ in range, complexity, price, and performance:

Our Low Range Kit (Cat. # 2800000) has a range up to 500 ppb and is best for samples containing sulfide or arsenic-iron particles. It has excellent recovery of As⁺⁵ (100%) and can measure organic arsenic with optional steps.

The EZ Arsenic Kit (Cat. # 2822800) has a range up to 4000 ppb, takes fewer steps, and is more economical. However, the high-range kit recovers only 90% of inorganic As⁺⁵, and has no option for measuring organic arsenic.

• Quickly and accurately measure free and total chlorine levels in the field or in the lab
• Many Hach chlorine tests have been accepted by the U.S. EPA for reporting purposes. Verify acceptance with your local regulatory agency.

Uses powder DPD reagent that reacts with chlorine more quickly than tablet-form DPD, giving more accurate results. Powder DPD also has a considerable advantage over orthotolidine, a hazardous substance sometimes used as a chlorine test reagent.

Hardness:

• Water hardness is caused almost entirely by calcium and magnesium ion. Other di- and trivalent metals have a similar effect, but usually are not present in high enough concentration in potable waters to cause problems. Hardness increases soap consumption in laundries and causes scale in boilers.
• Simply count the number of drops required to change the solution color to determine hardness concentration.

HACH Phosphorus, Orthophosphate (reactive) Test Kit, Model PO-19, Color Disc, 100 tests: Product #: 224800

Phosphate:

• Phosphorus occurs in natural waters as one of the forms of phosphates: ortho- or reactive phosphate, meta- or poly- (condensed) phosphate, and organic phosphate.
• Phosphates enter water supplies from soil runoff, cleaning operations, water treatment, boiler blowdown, and sewage. Although necessary for biological growth, too much phosphate causes excessive growth of aquatic plants and eutrophication. Industrial control includes maintenance of minimum levels in boilers and in cleaning operations.

HAWS Portable Eyewash - 7500

Model 7500 portable gravity operated eyewash features a 16-gallon capacity, FDA high-density green polyethylene tank that provides full pattern flushing at .4 gpm for over 15 minutes. Pulling the yellow activation arm down to the open position activates unit. Tank has handles on top and side to allow for easy handling. A wide-fill opening with threaded cap permits easy inspection, cleaning and filling. HAWS Shower - 8100

Check out the Haws 8100 drench shower with its use of an ABS showerhead ensures water is distributed at an optimal rate for the irrigation process. Outfitted with such safety features as the universal emergency sign and high visibility stripe this drench shower is easily spotted in emergency situations.

HAWS Combination Shower/Eyewash - 8300

The Haws 8300 combines the use of an ABS showerhead and anti-surge Soft-Flo eyewash heads for the irrigation process. Emergency combination unit is equipped with an in-line 50 x 50 mesh water strainer and pop-off dust covers, so when debris is present, the irrigation process stays protected. Virtually eliminating mishaps, the unit’s safety features include: universal emergency sign, high visibility stripe, and a foot treadle so the eyewash can be activated without the use of the operators hands.
